My two favorite rappers could potentially go at each others neck. Method Man and Joe Budden. Now most of you know, I’m a Joe Budden FAN! I been following dude since the begining of his career. I love his introspective style and his realness. Mood Muzik 2 is my favorite mixtape , EVER. But if you really, really, really know me, I’m a motherfucking Wu STAN. They changed my fucking life. At least 4 of my top 10 favorite albums would be Wu related albums. This is why this a battle I can’t really get into but feel like I have to because of circumstances.
Now, I know all of you saw that disgusting Vibe bracket list. But did you see the video where Joe Budden dissected it? Where Joe, went down the list and starts yapping about how fucked up the bracket was fucked up. I was agreeing with up until he said he could rap better than Method Man. Now, as a rapper myself, your suppose to believe your the greatest. Rapping is like boxing, if you don’t think you can do it who will?
But I believe Joe shouldn’t have called him out like that. If I was Method Man, I would have took that as disrespect. Thats disrepecting Method Man’s craft, his art, and his legacy. Who wants to be disrespected? NO ONE!!!! Especially not in rap. So that was a major fail on Joes part because he basically said, “I’m better than Method Man”. He’s better than someone who paved the way for him? Thats like Nas going, “I would rip Rakim apart lyrically”. Even if its true, its disrespectful because that man kinda made you with his career. You were once looking at that man and attempting to be him.
Which brings me to this question. What happened to respect? Joe is claiming he respects Method Man but how can you respect someone as a rapper if you blatantly say, “I’m better than you”. I could see if Joe said it in a friendly way but he didn’t. He fucking attacked him. Besides when you start a sentence off like “I respect him BUT” you shouldn’t have said anything before but. He even had the nerve on twitter to say Method Man didn’t write his own shit. Where is the respect? There is none.
Now Method Man on the other hand has managed to stay away from rap beefs since 92. Method Man never really had anything bad to say about anyone except Funk Master Flex and Wendy Williams. He usually just stays to himself. He even said himself he is not a battle rapper. But have you heard “Meth Vs Chef”, “What The Blood Clot”, and his verse on “Wu-Gambinos”? HE WILL EAT AN EMCEE if he has too. Method Man has that perfect voice [II] and flow. On top of that lyrics!
I heard his Ed Lover interview and I think Method Man had a point about Joe starting trouble. I loved when he said they should get on the same track and rap to prove it. But I hated when he begin saying things about harming Joe physically, although, I think that was just the anger talking. I hope the two can resolve it WITHOUT violence.
My personal opinion though? Method Man would tear Joe apart! People have the nerve to act like Wu-Tang and RedMan made Method Man. While they contributed to his growth as an artist, he held his own with both parties. People want to talk about Method Mans albums sucking. In my opinion, Method Man had one album that was straight garbage and that was Tical 0. But Joes last album sucked too! So they both have a lame album.
People want to talk songs!? Thats not a smart move. Method Man would body Joe. People want to talk live shows!? METHOD MAN is GOD when it comes to live shows. Joe is easily bodied in that department. Joe should know when you talk about rapping its not just lyrics. Your ablitiy to make some shit sound hard goes a long way which is why B.I.G. was a great emcee. But guess who has that ability too? Method Man. Joe Budden? Not so much. On paper, if we had to read their lyrics, Joe would probably take Method Man. But we are not talking straight lyrics, we talking rapping. Whos the better rapper, not lyricist and in every department other than lyrics (argueably) Method Man wins. Just my opinion.

I agree, and thats not because you said it. Thats because its the truth. My sister asked me about this and i been out of the blogosphere (Especially music and gossip) since my semester ended and i was just like ARE YOU FxKIN SERIOUS? Method man is the illest there is no comparing these two. Thats like asking me if Nas was better than Biggie GTFOH!
