It has been about a week since I posted the last blog. I’ve been working mad hard on the album/s and just getting my life together in general. Everything is going good so far. It’s looking like I’ll spend the last two weeks of July mixing and mastering “Dreams of An Insomniac”. I’m super excited.
I was listening to it yesterday and it’s coming out better than I expected. Right now, I’m getting different opinions on all the songs and sequences of the songs. Real critical shit such as, “is this too low?”, “should I take off that verse?”, “what sound effect should I put there?”, and etc. I’m trying to make this legit as possible. Im making it so my album can compete with others there.
Things are looking up though. I should be doing a photoshoot really soon also. I never really realized how important photographs are until last week. I was looking at my myspace and a couple other artist I think are “bigger” than me. One of the key things I noticed were the lack of promotional pictures I have compared to them. Which brings me on to another topic.
I hate this shit. This industry is made strictly off of looks. You have to already appear to be doing something big before people will take notice. It’s really not about talent anymore, just hustle. Anyone can appear to be doing wayyyyy better off then they are. That is probably why we have the people in the limelight that we have now. But to win, you gotta play like them.
So in the first week of August I’m looking forward to relaunching my Myspace and MyRadioIsAMillionaire.com. I really do care about my site/s. The way they look, the way people perceive them, and etc. These are important tools to my success as an independent musician. But, in August, I’m definately gonna change the website and the myspace for ya’ll. I already got it planned out in my head. This is gonna be crazy.
Far as the “not making illnoise” (c)MartianLewis, I’m still not making beats in July. I haven’t turned on Reason to make a beat since the 24th of June. I will say it is getting harder to not make beats. I was going e-digging yesterday and getting the samples up and I heard some shit I wanted to flip but didn’t. I personally don’t think I’m gonna last too much longer.
Speaking of going digging, I’m supposed to go digging with GangStarrGirl at the end of August (Told you I was serious lol). I haven’t been digging in New York City before so this is kinda exciting. Shit, I’m from Jersey and I don’t get to go to New York (or home) that much. I can’t wait to do that though. Hoping to get some nice shit for $75. I hope GangStarrGirl knows I’m more of a dollar bin man myself lol.
I still want a MPC 2000xl or 4000. I’m leaning more towards the 4000 because it has a harddrive but that shit is expensive as fuck. I’ll probably have to sell some shit but thats cool cause I’m more than willing to do that right now. Perhaps if I learn to use Reason like a peice of hardware I wouldn’t be pressed to get some hardware. Don’t get me wrong I know Reason inside and out, but I like to get a sample, chop it, get a groove, and then chop accordingly after that. Reason can do that but it is a bitch and I don’t feel like fucking with her.
Well, I should be posting some more music soon. I think ya’ll think I’m fronting on that Nas mixtape. I’m might post a couple joints from that soon. Peace to the gods, I’m outtie!
