My Radio Is A Millionaire

Its that time of the year again. Valentines Day. I like this holiday more than most men will admit. I find something fun about trying to do something special for my significant other. Even when I didn’t have one, I found it fun just to find someone else who didn’t and try to make the best of the day.

I know its a lot of other shit going on with Valentines Day like the cannibalism and massacres and all that.

*loses train of thought*

Anyway, I usually make my girlfriend a mix of beats I made over the year and give them to her on Valentines Day. Since my job got me working today I figure I’d post it online for her to receive as soon as possible. So heres to her.

I’m a tad bit excited.

My girlfriend is awesome. I don’t really post about her on this blog because I couldn’t find a way to relate her to music. Now that “Memoirs of Purgatory” is in development and this mini beat tape is out I can. So here is an song by song analysis of “V Day Specials 3″.

1.) Because Of You – A couple months ago I couldn’t sleep (I get bad cases of insomnia from time to time for the record). So I went into the studio and found this sample decided to loop it. Really can describe I how I feel though. “Just because of you, I’m a happy guy. Your the reason why”.

2.) The One – I was trying to make something like this for a while. Another play on the vocals here. I guess she’s the one. (No Royce/Eminem).

3.) Arguments – When I was writing for “Dreams of An Insomniac” I flipped this sample. I decided to flip this sample after having an argument with her then I wrote a song called “Arguments” too. Perhaps I’ll release that in the future?

4.) Baby – I made this last Feb when we moved into our new apartment. This was one of the first beats I knew was going to be on this beat tape. Real laid back and then it gets aggressive. Kinda like our sex. Jokes, jokes. The outro for the beat was a retaliation to “Arguments”.

5.) My Love – I actually sat home one Saturday and flipped this joint for her. I did write to this however and it will be used but probably not on “Memoirs Of Purgatory”. She was real excited about this one too.

6.) Can We – I just like the feel of this beat. I wanted to place this after “Arguements” originally, because of the outro and intro. I made this beat before “Arguments” though.

7.) Baby Pt 2 – A Black Ivory sample. I wanted to make something vocal heavy like Baby but a bit choppy. Babbbbbyyyy change yourrrrrrr mind, your just confusing yourself. Maybe I should have moved “My Love” down further, huh?

8.) Date With Destiny – I liked working on this one. It originally had a bassline that I played but with the recent addition of my monitors I figured I could filter one out of the sample. However, I do believe in fate and destiny so this was a perfect match.

9.) I Need You – E-Rich said this sounds like something for Mario Kart. But I wanted to make a song where I could point and have people sing along. Never wrote it. Vocal sample still stands though. If your reading this, I need you.

10.) In Love – Funky instrumental. I put this up here for me lol.

11.) Wanting You – I made a really dirty song out of this and never recorded it. When I went to record it, I could find the damn lyrics. Nice Marvin Gaye flip on my part though. I wanted something that express how I felt sexually at the time. You don’t see producers tossing that word (sexually) around, do you?

12.) Angles For Angels- Another one I made in Feb. I always tell her she’s my angel. I genuinely mean it too. So when I found a sample with angles and heaven in it, I had to flip it with the quickness.

13.) Love Instrumental – This is an actual song. I’m working with someone she referred to me and this is his song. We’re still working on his album (all production by yours truly) so I didn’t want to release his shit without permission. But, I can release the instrumental cause I made it lol.

14.) Lovers Loop – I listen to this joint and think about when she showed me how to dance a tiny bit. I have no rhythm on the dance floor. I guess I should practice to this. *Begins doing the wop and two stepping*

15.) Not Titled – This beat is very simple but yet complex. You already know its laid with a sample. Then I play a couple synths over it. Nothing too major. Just like her, simple yet complex.

16.) Disco Night – I want to take her out dancing. We both talk about how we wish we were born to be adults in the 70′s. Disco would have love us.

17.) Party Tonight – A bit more jazzy than the previous song. Nice vocal sample. Ahhh, I’m gonna party tonight! I must really want to take her out dancing. But going back to parties. She takes real good care of me when i’m wildin’ and partying. And I get DRUNK too. If you follow me on Twitter, you probably witnessed what happened on New Years. She makes sure I don’t act too much of an ass and that I’m not sick the next morning. If that’s not love then what is?

18.) I be Loving You – There is a completely different version of this beat on my computer. I flipped it just for her. Pretty much to let her know, I’m loving her.

19.) Love Remix – I wanted to remix “Love” but didn’t want to rap over that instrumental cause then it’d look like it was my song. So I took the same sample and flipped a different part and used the same drums. I mixed it with the original and then I spat a verse. I figure I could end the tape with a rap for my one and only. It took me two days to write the verse. I’ll dissect that here.
